Frequently Asked Questions

Why did Creative Learning Systems build LearningHub?

Creative Learning Systems build the content and functionality in LearningHub based on research and feedback from our clients. The main objectives of this development were to:

  • Provide a digital platform that delivers student-led, STEM-focused learning, manages assessment, tracks student progress, and integrates with your Learning Management System (LMS) or Student Information System (SIS).
  • Integrate the SmartLab Learning and SMART Goals processes into a dynamic digital experience.
  • Implement a Facilitator space for training, professional development, and community building.
  • Expand the SmartLab Learning experience beyond the physical space.

Does LearningHub replace LaunchPad?

Yes, LearningHub is an integrated digital learning platform that is replacing LaunchPad and was released to early adopters in the summer of 2022. Clients who upgrade from LaunchPad to LearningHub in the winter of 2023 will receive up to 6 months of free access.

Will Creative Learning Systems continue to support LaunchPad; for how long?

Yes, Creative Learning Systems will continue to support LaunchPad until July 1, 2025. However, the majority of new content, functionality, and training will be delivered through LearningHub. Please register for an upgrade webinar to learn more and get your questions answered.

If we use both SmartLab HQ and SmartLab Studio, will we need to use both LaunchPad and LearningHub?

LearningHub is currently available for primary (K-2), upper elementary (3-5), and middle school (6-8). High school will be published for back-to-school in fall 2023. Studio clients will need LaunchPad to access current content and project starters. We will formally communicate dates for launching additional LearningHub content soon.

Will LearningHub integrate with my learning management system (LMS) and/or student information system (SIS)?

Yes. LearningHub has a Facilitator and Student user interface (UI), rostering, and single sign-on (SSO) integration with multiple LMS like Canvas, PowerSchool Schoology, Google Classroom, Illuminate etc. Clients without an LMS may use a flat file for rostering integration.

Does LearningHub curriculum include standards alignment like ISTE, NGSS, and Common Core Math?

Yes. As students complete the SmartLab project starters, they are naturally exposed to the content and skills in many standards, followed at national and state levels. In LearningHub, the supplementary content has been proactively aligned to ISTE, NGSS, and Common Core Mathematical Standards.

What if I have already paid my Curriculum & Support Agreement (CSA) for the 2022/23 school year?

If you want to move to LearningHub in January or February 2023, there is no additional charge.  The new CSA price for LearningHub will be applied to your 2023/24 CSA renewal for the following year.  Upgrading to LearningHub in January or February, for example, gives you up to 6 months of FREE access.

If you want to move to LearningHub for the 2023/24 school year,  you will upgrade to the new CSA pricing this July for access to LearningHub starting August 1st.

What if I have pre-paid for my Curriculum & Support Agreement (CSA) for the next 2-5 years?

If you have pre-paid for your CSA you will not be required to pay the full new price, you will only be required to pay the difference or variance in cost from what you currently pay on your CSA up to the new price.  This will only be charged to you annually with the renewal of you CSA until your pre-paid term ends.
