What’s SmartLab?

SmartLab Creates Environments Where Students See What
They’re Capable Of

SmartLab brings together the space, curriculum, STEM tools, and training needed to foster real-world problem solving. In a SmartLab, students aren’t just completing tasks—they’re taking ownership, making decisions, and learning to fail forward.

That sense of agency leads to lasting gains in confidence, identity, and academic growth. It’s about helping students discover what they’re capable of—academically and beyond—and giving them the tools to get there. See how the five components make this possible →

Every SmartLab includes five interconnected components.

Each SmartLab is built around five essential elements that work in concert: a career-connected curriculum, flexible equipment kits, thoughtfully designed environments, robust professional development, and ongoing support.

5 key components engage students
and accelerate learning.

SmartLabs are turnkey PBL-centered STEM learning environments and curricula built to keep your program relevant and sustainable for generations of students.

Career-Connected PBL Curriculum

Defines the scope and sequence of student learning. SmartLab curriculum includes scaffolded, challenge-based projects that align to standards and build transferable skills—creating the foundation for every other component

Hands-on Tools & Equipment

Equips learners with the tools and software they need to engage meaningfully with SmartLab challenges. Each kit is matched to curricular goals by grade band and evolves with student progress—ensuring seamless integration.

Customized STEM Learning Environments

Establishes the physical layout needed to support SmartLab learning. Whether HQ, FLEX, or Studio, each space is tailored to the curriculum and tools, promoting collaboration, experimentation, and guided facilitation.

SmartLab Certified Facilitator

Professional learning that prepares educators to deliver and adapt the full program. PD connects directly to each component and builds the confidence and competence teachers need to make SmartLab sustainable.

Ongoing Support & Partnership

Ongoing technical and curriculum support, annual credit for upgrades and replacement parts, and an assigned success manager sustain your PBL + STEM program into the future.

What Educators Say

Chad Burrows

Student engagement is at levels I have never seen in my 23 years of teaching. Students love the lab and are constantly asking if they can come down in their free time to continue working with Ukits, or Engino, etc. I’ve never been busier as a teacher, but also have never had more fun. It’s encouraged me to gladly take work home and get more proficient in areas such as coding and circuitry. I see myself as a lifelong learner, and this lab not only meets the needs of my students but also fulfills my own growth as a facilitator and person. I appreciate my administration for investing in this lab and appreciate SmartLab for offering such an incredible product!!!

“We are able to work with our students to get them career and college ready, and we do that K-12. SmartLabs help by getting students’ hands on projects and activities, getting them working with partners in the classroom, and getting them building something they would’ve never have imagined they could build…it’s actually shown our community what our students are capable of.”

“In our SmartLab, students become empowered and engaged as they use critical thinking, curiosity, and collaboration to apply content standards. I have yet to meet a student who doesn’t love this class or
benefit from this connected approach to learning.”
