Facilitator Terry Highfield discusses the benefits of the SmartLab at S. Christa McAuliffe for students
Fairly new to District 6, SmartLabs are hands-on learning centers, wide open and brightly lit, where students are encouraged to move around and collaborate with classmates. The work is project-based and tailored to age groups from kindergarten through middle school, and featuring concepts in science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM. The learning — the material being presented — delves into coding, video creation, engineering, robotics, and computer programming in addition to 3-D design that engaged McNichol and Martinez.
